Let There Be Lists!
I'm a list person. I love making lists, I love editing lists, I get great satisfaction in crossing things off of lists as I complete to-dos or pack items for a trip. For short trips I don't usually make a physical list since I have pretty much gotten that down to a mental list in my head (although I did once fly home to visit my family with exactly zero pair of underwear - whoops!). On short trips there's really nothing you will forget that isn't inexpensive to replace or easy to pick up. That being said, for a longer, adventure trip (like when I went to New Zealand for 6 weeks or was living in LA for almost 2 months), I like to have a list. I thought it would be fun to publicly acknowledge my Hawaii list BEFORE I go, then I can review how I did when I get back. No matter how efficient of a packer I am, I always bring a little more than I need and some things don't get used.
I usually prefer paper lists (old school!) but when I do want a digital list, my current preferred app is AnyList. I have tried many, many list apps and this is the current favorite. Anything with a ? by it is already deemed expendable, and a few items I put links to because I am particularly fond of that specific thing for traveling.
